Leading lodging & tourism group to bestow honor Wednesday in Scottsdale
TUCSON, AZ (May 15, 2018) – The Arizona Lodging & Tourism Association will present its Hotelier of the Year Award to HSL Properties Founder Humberto S. Lopez. The ceremony will be at the annual Arizona Tourism Unity dinner on Wednesday, May 16, at the JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa.
“I am honored to be recognized by the Arizona Lodging & Tourism Association,” said Lopez.
“It’s exciting to watch our diverse portfolio of hotel properties in Tucson continue to grow. I accept this accolade on behalf of the entire HSL Properties team.”
Humberto S. Lopez’s story is incredible. Lopez worked passionately to provide for his family from the early age of 12, when his father passed away. He graduated from the University of Arizona in 1969 with an accounting major and went to work in Los Angeles at Deloitte where he received his CPA certification in 1972. Lopez soon afterwards started dabbling in real estate after borrowing $1,000, leaving accounting behind to start HSL Properties Inc. in 1975.
HSL hotels focus on excellent service and top-quality accommodations in great locations that appeal to both business and pleasure travelers. HSL owns and manages eight Arizona hotels, all in Tucson, totaling more than 1,600 guest rooms: Hampton Inn & Suites; Radisson Suites; TownePlace Suites by Marriott; The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain; El Conquistador Tucson, a Hilton Resort; DoubleTree Suites by Hilton; Best Western Plus Tucson Int’l. Airport, and La Quinta Inn & Suites Tucson—Reid Park.
In addition, HSL has two Hampton Inn & Suites under construction, one in Marana slated to open in the fall of 2018 and another in Rita Ranch scheduled to open in the winter.
